Peer support for young adults who've lost a parent

You don't have to do this alone.

The Dead Parents Society is a peer support group for people aged 18โ€“30ish whose parent or significant parental figure has died. We meet monthly to share stories, talk honestly about grief, and remind each other that we're not as alone as we feel.

A space made for us

Grief after losing a parent when you're young is strange territory. You probably don't know anyone who's been through this and the narriatives about parental loss in popular culture are pretty unhelpful. Your friends might not know what to say or how to talk about your loss. It can feel like nobody quite understands what it's like to navigate adulthood without the person who was supposed to be there with you.

The Dead Parents Society (DPS) exists to bridge that gap. We're not therapists and we're not a crisis service. We're people who've been through it, and are going through it now. We are making space for you to find your journey through grief with others by your side.

If you need help now, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
