How to join
Our Canberra group is open for anyone to join at any time. If your parent or significant parental figure has died and you're aged 18 to approximately 30 then you are very welcome. We are not strict on the upper age limit and if there is enough interest we will set up a group for 30 to approximately 45 year olds so please let us know if that is you!
Joining DPS is simple. Here's all you need to do:
Head to the Sessions page to find the next gathering near you. Sessions run monthly in Canberra, with more cities and online sessions coming soon.
You don't have to, but it helps us prepare the space. Drop us an email at dps.canberra@gmail.com to let us know you're coming or to join our mailing list to be notified of each session.
Come as you are. We provide a structured conversation exploring a new theme each month.
Once you've attended a session you can join our WhatsApp group to stay connected to other members. We are always happy to have a phone call with you before you come to a session to let you know more about the group and what to expect.
DPS works because everyone in the room agrees to a few simple things to keep our space safe and comfortable for everyone.
We keep everything shared in the group private.
We share in whatever way feels right for us today, using our parents' names if we want to.
We make space for everyone to contribute if they'd like to.
We recognise everyone grieves differently - there's no right or wrong way, and we're all at different points in our journey.
We welcome all emotions. We have tissues!
Step out any time. Give a thumbs up if you're okay - if you don't, someone will follow to check in.
The best way to stay up to date with session dates, monthly themes and new groups is to join our mailing list. Email us at dps.canberra@gmail.com and we'll keep you posted on upcoming sessions.
